This year, the Festival is bringing back the FANTASTIQUE WEEKEND OF QUEBEC SHORTS. For the occasion, all the short-length films from local Quebec talent have been gathered up and will be screened together over the weekend of July 24th to the 26th at the J.A. de Sève theatre (Concordia). The screenings have been divided into Quebec shorts and DIY with prizes awarded for each category.
More than a hundred shorts will be shown over eight sessions amounting to more than 15 hours of film in the span of three days. The guiding vision behind this year’s selection did not rely on particular genres. Rather it is a mosaic comprising everything from drama to animation to horror comedy. This free spiritedness is perfectly in line with the DIY (Do It Yourself) selection which consists of a collection of short films from first-time directors wishing to share their work.
FOUR CONFERENCES HOSTED BY RENOWNED PERSONALITIES
Although these conferences should be of particular interest to rookie directors hoping to have a career in film, anyone with an interest in the industry will certainly benefit from attending. Best of all, there is absolutely no cover charge. With these great insights on Micro-cinema, stage direction and DVD distribution, the FANTASTIQUE WEEK-END OF QUEBEC SHORTS is not only a medium to discover fresh new talents but also network of valuable industry contacts and great source of helpful information. Each conference will be followed by a cocktail giving you a chance to meet and mingle with the panellists.
