The World’s End
Hosted by Director Edgar Wright and Actor Nick Frost
Twenty years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Simon Pegg, cast as the wild man this time, with buddy Nick Frost as the shy, reserved one!), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub — The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, the guys realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries…
Can anyone imagine a better closing night film at Fantasia than this star-studded premiere of THE WORLD’S END? Fantasia and the marvelous movies of WORLD’S END director Edgar Wright have had a long association ever since our legendary screenings of SHAUN OF THE DEAD and SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD, as well as the Wright-produced ATTACK THE BLOCK. But unlike those past Fantasia hits, this time the man himself — yes, Edgar Wright! — will be appearing on the Fantasia stage to host the night’s fun, alongside star Nick Frost and maybe a surprise or two. Following the successes SHAUN OF THE DEAD (2004) and HOT FUZZ (2007), THE WORLD’S END completes Pegg and Wright’s trilogy of uproarious comedies, raising the blockbuster ante this time by taking on an alien apocalypse in their own inimitable style. Joining the team are genre faves Martin Freeman (SHAUN, HOT FUZZ, THE HOBBIT), Paddy Considine (HOT FUZZ), Eddie Marsan (SHERLOCK HOLMES) and Rosamund Pike (JACK REACHER, DIE ANOTHER DAY). The world may be ending, but the laughs will be just beginning when Wright and company bring you the ultimate Fantasia closer!
