The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time, with Marvel Studios’ ANT-MAN. Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
In the latest Marvel summer blockbuster, ANT-MAN, PeytonReed (BRING IT ON) directs comedy superstar Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Evangeline (THE HOBBIT) Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, Corey (THE STRAIN) Stoll as the villainous Darren Cross (a.k.a. Yellowjacket) and Hollywood royalty Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym, Scott’s tutor in all things heroic. Marvel movie fans should also look for appearances by overlapping movie characters Peggy Carter (Captain America’s pal) and Howard Stark (Iron Man’s dad), played respectively by series regulars Hayley Atwell and John Slattery. With their original Ant-Man comic book adventures, Marvel legends Stan Lee, brother Larry Lieber and artist extraordinaire Jack Kirby invented one of the most offbeat superheroes of them all, a true underdog (under-ant?) if there ever was one. Imagine a superhero who has the ability to shrink to roughly the size of an ant, communicate telepathically with insects, and punch with as much force as a normal-sized person? Once more, Fantasia’s audience can imagine the impossible and then watch in awe as Marvel Studios delivers another spectacular entertainment beyond our wildest dreams.
