Book Launch - SATANIC PANIC: POP CULTURAL PARANOIA IN THE 1980's

Saturday July 18, 5PM at Kafein Café-Bar (1429 Rue Bishop)
Hosted by Editors Kier-la Janisse & Paul Corupe

Fantasia is proud to host the world premiere launch of the new book from Spectacular Optical, SATANIC PANIC: POP-CULTURAL PARANOIA IN THE 1980’S. From heavy metal to He-Man toys, Dungeons & Dragons to daycare scandals, the hysteria known as the “Satanic Panic” made its way through every pop-culture pathway in the ’80s, and this fully-illustrated, 370-page book revisits the era with 20 insightful new essays and a foreword by APOCALYPSE CULTURE writer/editor Adam Parfrey.

The launch accompanies the Canadian Premiere of Jason Lei Howden’s heavy metal splatter comedy DEATHGASM, preceded by a 5-7 cocktail in the basement lounge of Kafein at 1429 Bishop (complete with a Satanic Panic-era playlist!)
