Jeffrey Combs, Bruce Abbott, Barbara Crampton, Robert Sampson
Death is just the beginning in this beloved ’80s horror/comedy splatter classic based loosely on the works of H.P. Lovecraft set in the world of medicine… and beyond. A boundary-bursting jaw-dropper of a film, RE-ANIMATOR was the mega-acclaimed (and legitimately groundbreaking) feature debut of Chicago’s Organic Theatre co-founder Stuart Gordon, immediately establishing him along with stars Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Crampton as top-tier horror royalty. In the ensuing years, the film spawned a series of sequels along with a musical stage adaptation, comic-book expansions and all manner of imitations. Gordon attended Fantasia numerous times over the festival’s history before his untimely passing last year and was an adored member of our extended family. The print we will be screening is the very one that was projected in 2010 with the filmmaker, Combs and screenwriter Dennis Paoli hosting, donated to the festival by another cherished member of the Fantasia Family, producer Brian Yuzna.
