“Simple comic book material is presented with artistic and political sophistication... it has martial arts razzle-dazzle, broad humor, flashy camera trickery, rock ‘n’ roll, much magic...”
– Kevin Thomas, LOS ANGELES TIMES

Beware of the 100-foot-plus centipede demon who has taken on human form! Still lovesick after his ghostly paramour reincarnated, Ning (Leslie Cheung) finds himself in the middle of nowhere, where rival warriors are trying to kill each other. Adding even more spice to the situation, Ning has fallen hopelessly in love with one of the warriors (Joey Wang), who is a dead ringer for his lost darling! However, even the combined arsenal of kung fu and supernatural skills that these bitter enemies have at their disposal will likely be no match for the centipede demon’s legions once their paths converge. Perhaps Ning can summon his old pal, the bearded Taoist hermit, to help defeat the demonic forces?

The cast and crew of A CHINESE GHOST STORY I return with a vengeance for this wilder and more outrageous follow-up, nominated for several Hong Kong Film Awards including the editing and action choreography categories. The kung fu laws of gravity are stretched more than ever, as returning director and award-winning action choreographer Ching Siu-tung (HEROIC TRIO, THE KILLER), and producer Tsui Hark, further rejuvenate the genre, strapping us in for an exhilarating ride full of monsters, priests, slime, and wuxia wonders. Don’t miss the rare ghostly 35mm screening, especially if you survived last year’s haunting instalment. – King-Wei Chu
