Le Fantastique Week-end du cinéma québécois 2014

Le Fantastique Week-end du cinéma québécois this year concluded with the presentation of Ricardo Trogi’s film 1987, at the Imperial Cinema. Isabelle Gauvreau, the event’s director, is delighted with the success of the event, which saw a 25% increase in attendance at the screenings of its 10 programs, showcasing a total of 160 short films. Moreover, the presentation of the feature film Dys- by Maude Michaud saw a sold-out room. The feature-film version of Rémi Fréchette’s web series Les Jaunes also enjoyed a lively success. The event furthermore hosted the launch of the memoirs of producer John Dunning, followed by a screening of the rare cult film Le diable est parmi nous, byJean Beaudin. Finally, two conferences were held, one with the Roadkill Superstar team discussing their forthcoming feature film Turbo Kid, the other on genre series on television and the Web, hosted by the festival’s honorary president, director François Rivard (Série Noire and Les Invincibles).
