GENERAL INFORMATION

When and how is Fantasia 2023 going to take place?
Fantasia will now take place exclusively in-person from July 20 to August 9, 2023! Films will be screened in theatres around Montreal, at Concordia University’s Hall, J.A. de Sève and York Cinemas, as well as the Cinémathèque québécoise, Cinéma du Musée, Cinéma du Parc, and the McCord Museum.

Will there be any online streaming options this year?
No, Fantasia 2023 will take place exclusively in cinemas around Montreal.

Will official merchandise be available to purchase online again?
No, the Fantasia 2023 official merchandise will only be sold at our in-person merch booth, and will be available to purchase throughout the entire festival while supplies last. This FAQ entry will be updated in the coming days with more information about the booth’s specific location and operating hours.

Where can I buy the official Fantasia 2023 poster?
Unfortunately, the Fantasia 2023 poster, Fantastiques week-ends du cinéma québécois poster, as well as individual film posters will not be available to purchase this year. However, you can buy a mini version of the Fantasia 2023 poster at the merch booth.

Will wearing masks be mandatory in the cinemas?
Fantasia will not be enforcing a mask mandate as long as it is not required by local health authorities, however we strongly encourage our audience to continue wearing masks and to be mindful of everyone’s health and safety.

Can we eat and drink in the cinemas?
Yes! In fact, popcorn and snacks will be available to purchase at most of our screening locations.

How can I find out if the screenings I’m interested in will have special guests attending?
Many cast and crew members will be present at the festival this year! To find out which ones, please consult this page, which will be updated as more guests are confirmed.

Will there be an Arrow Video / Vinegar Syndrome vendor booth this year?
Yes! This FAQ entry will be updated in the coming days with more information about our partner booths’ specific locations and schedules.

Are the cinemas accessible for people with reduced mobility?
Yes. Concordia’s Hall and J.A. de Sève Cinemas, as well as the Cinémathèque québécoise, Cinéma du Musée, Cinéma du Parc (through the entrance at 3590 Jeanne-Mance Street) and the McCord Museum (through the entrance at 2175 Victoria Street) are wheelchair accessible.

BUYING TICKETS


What is the procedure to purchase tickets?
There are four ways to buy tickets for our 2023 edition: at the Fantasia box-office, through Ticketpro online, the Ticketpro call centre, or at Ticketpro counters.
At the Fantasia box-office: Tickets will be sold on pre-sale day (Saturday, July 15) from 1PM to 7PM, and will become available again during the festival (July 20 to August 9). You can find more information about our physical box-office on this page.

Through the Ticketpro network: Tickets will be available starting July 15 at 1PM, until the end of the festival on August 9. This means that from July 16 to the 19 inclusively, tickets will only be available for purchase through Ticketpro.

If I buy tickets online, do I have to pick them up at the Fantasia box-office?
Contrary to previous years, if you buy Fantasia tickets online through Ticketpro, you no longer have to exchange them for physical tickets at the Fantasia box-office.

Where is the Fantasia box-office and what are the operating hours?
Fantasia’s box-office is located in Concordia University’s SGWU Alumni Auditorium (Hall Cinema) lobby at 1455 de Maisonneuve Blvd. West (metro Guy-Concordia). You can find more information about our physical box-office, including its operating hours, on this page.

How much do film tickets and ticket packages cost?
Ticket prices vary depending on your chosen purchasing platform. You can find a full breakdown of prices, and more information on ticket sales, on this page. Please note that ticket packages will not be available at Ticketpro counters or using the Ticketpro phone line. Our family-friendly “My First Fantasia” screenings are all free.

How do ticket packages work?
When purchasing 10 or 20-ticket packages at the physical Fantasia box-office, it is necessary to select your films immediately in order to have your tickets printed at the time of purchase. However, when purchasing ticket packages online through Ticketpro, you will have the option to select your films at a later date. After purchasing a package, you will receive, in an email following your purchase confirmation, a document containing a unique password. Then, simply select your movies at your own pace using the password to unlock up to 10 or 20 entries. Ticket packages are not redeemable for cash if you do not use all your entries this year.

What payment methods do you accept?
The Fantasia box-office, as well as Ticketpro outlets, accepts payments in cash and cards.
The Ticketpro website and call centre accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Interac Online.

Will members of the press from outside of Quebec be able to cover the festival remotely?
Absolutely. Press will need to be approved by the filmmakers or their associated companies on a per-film basis, a process facilitated by our Press Relations office. You can contact us at press@fantasiafestival.com.
