Left stranded in a remote forest, Nina (Nahéma Ricci, ANTIGONE), a feisty sex worker, is picked up by a rowdy group of men out on a bachelor weekend. Their initial reluctance to take her in, subjecting her to a blind vote that would decide her fate, sets the stage for what is to follow. Determined to join the pack, Nina eagerly takes part in the men's hazing rituals, joining in their inebriated delirium. As the weekend descends into a bloody madness fuelled by liquor and drugs, Nina must reconsider her allegiance and how far she is willing to go to belong.
Lauded following its world premiere at SXSW, Annick Blanc's highly anticipated debut feature HUNTING DAZE finally makes its way home. With stunning cinematography, the film entrances with its dreamy visuals, painting the scene as a crescendo of tension leaves its viewer in a suffocating unease. In this drunken fever dream, Blanc exposes a microcosm of masculinity and how easily it can be fractured. In the lead, Ricci delivers a transfixing performance, accompanied by a cast of some of Quebec’s finest talent (Marc Beaupré, Maxime Genois, Alexandre Landry, Bruno Marcil) and featuring a breakthrough performance by Noubi Ndiaye.
