Colerain County was the site of a comet crash that released mysterious forces and caused strange phenomena. Puzzling disappearances and bloody deaths abound. A group of young people called the Lost Children fought the forces of evil and succeeded in containing them. A few years later, after the death of his parents, young Sam moves to the small town of Castle Peaks to live with his aunt and cousin, who are fascinated by the Ouija board. Sam joins a group of youngsters called the Little Monsters, who enjoy telling each other scary stories inspired by the mythical Lost Children, who have become urban legends in the area. But now the evil spirit of Colerain's comet has been awakened again, supernatural events are occuring at a frightening rate and many youngsters are starting to act strangely.
Avid readers of the Frissons collection from Éditions Héritage Québec will appreciate this new offering, which evokes a Stephen King halfway between the short story “The Body” (which inspired the film STAND BY ME) and the gargantuan IT. A horror film for teenagers, starring real teenagers, all shot by Luca Jalbert, a young multidisciplinary artist (cartoonist, author, filmmaker) who at the age of 30 was already celebrating 20 years of his artistic career. Born in Lévis in 1987, Jalbert produced his first comic strip recounting the adventures of Fonck and Ponck at the age of nine. In 2002, at the age of 14, he founded CABRO* Productions, with which he has since published several volumes of his characters' adventures. He has also written a series of novels and directed the web series LES ENFANTS PERDUS. LES ÉCORCHÉS is the sequel to the four-season web series, which has been adapted into four novels published in the Frissons collection. LES ÉCORCHÉS is conceived as a new trilogy of feature films and illustrated novels set a few years after the first series. Made on a modest budget, with a big heart and a group of genuinely motivated and charismatic young actors, the film manages to maintain a frighteningly horrific and fantastic atmosphere. Five of the original actors from the LES ENFANTS PERDUS series, plus Luca Jalbert himself, have agreed to reunite with their characters and lend a hand to the new generation. It's a chance for young people to meet the film's creator and team, and discover the first part of this new trilogy. – Translation: Rupert Bottenberg
